MOMMY & ME - A Mother Daughter Pageant for the Perfect Bonding

AUM Events Mommy & Me, Pre – Teen Diva & Teen Star pageants organized by Jayesh Mehta on Feb 21, 2009 at Chutney Manor was a great success. 40 contestants from all over New Jersey were selected for final pageant sponsored by DIRECTV and co-sponsored by Geetanjali Singh of Khubsoorat Collections.

All the participating Mommy & Me, Pre – Teen Diva and Teen Star contestants presented their respective talents along with the 2 catwalk rounds – Indian / Traditional wear & Western wear along with question & answer round by renowned judges. All the contestants were very excited to be a part of something unique like this whereby they could be on stage with their age group participants. Jayesh Mehta choreographed and emceed the show.



Amrit Narwal and her daughter Kriti won the title of ‘AUM Events – DIRECTV Mommy and Me 2009’, 12 years old Pooja Singh was crowned as AUM Events DIRECTV Pre – Teen Diva 2009 while 16 years old Vaibhavi Bhavsar was the winner of AUM Events DIRECTV Teen Star 2009. The show was organized to highlight the talents of young girls and mothers.

The winners were crowned by Nikhil Shukla of DIRECTV, who also acted as one of the judges of the contest. All the winners were presented with certificates, sash, trophies and prizes by Aum Events.
Other winners of AUM Events – DIRECTV Mommy & Me were mom Sapna and Nidhi Shah, as the first runner-up while mom Rujul and Neerja Dave were judged second runner-ups, Best Catwalk was awarded to mom Shirley & Raveena Samtani, mom Jenni and Ria Patel as Miss Conginiality, mom Shruti & Anisha Kakar were awarded Perfect Bonding.
Other winners of AUM Events – DIRECTV Pre – Teen Diva were Priya Mansukhani as first runner-up and Raveena Samtani as second runner – up, Nidhi Khanna for Best Catwalk and Pooja Singh for Best Talent.
Other winners of AUM Events – DIRECTV Teen Star were Sanchita Sharma as first runner-up and Aaima Sayed as second runner – up, Nidhi Shah for Best Catwalk, Sanchita Sharma for Best Talent and Mona Gianchandani as Miss Congeniality.


Jayesh Mehta, organizer of the pageant, said that he would organize similar pageants in other states in coming months that will finally culminate in a national pageant of ‘Mommy and Me, Pre – Teen Diva and Teen Star 2009’ at the end of the year.

“I am hosting Naach Revolution – a Desi dance fest for the last 4 years for young talented south Asian girls and boys from the tri-state area and I am mesmerized by their talent, grace and elegance. It is my 12 years old daughter Divya that inspired me to create a platform for talented and beautiful South Asian girls of all ages that could compete to win the crown at Pre – Teen Diva and Teen Star pageants”, said Mehta.

“All the mothers who took part in DIRECTV Mommy & Me were working professionals and all participating Pre-Teen Diva and Teen Star girls were full time students”

Jayesh said, “I am happy about the tremendous response to this show from families living in various parts of New Jersey and am glad that South Asian families are supporting and appreciating my efforts. We invited applicants to take part in a competition and selected the best in each category for the main contest.”
The young Pre – Teen and Teen contestants mesmerized the audience with their sharp and witty answers and truly proved the perfect combination of beauty and brains. The contestants performed Bollywood songs and dances.
The panel of judges included Nikhil Shukla from DIRECTV, Cosmetologist Rupa Gill and Fashion Designer Kunjal Patel.
